Declaration of Conformity generator
A Declaration of Conformity is the document a manufacturer signs to state, under their own responsibility, that a product meets every piece of legislation that applies to it. You need one before placing most CE-marked or UKCA-marked products on the market, and you need to be able to produce it if a market surveillance authority asks. This tool formats one from your inputs: it does not test your product or check your claims, so use it once you already know which regulations and standards apply. If you are not sure, start with our regulation guides or the requirements checker.

Fair questions
Who is allowed to sign the Declaration of Conformity?+
Someone with real authority over the product's compliance, typically a director, head of engineering or quality manager. The legislation does not require a specific job title, but the signatory has to genuinely be authorised to make the declaration on the manufacturer's behalf, not an arbitrary employee with no oversight of the compliance work.
Do I need a separate declaration for every model?+
A single Declaration of Conformity can cover multiple products, provided each one is properly identified (by model number, for instance) and the same legislation and standards genuinely apply to all of them. A vague declaration covering "our product range" without specific identification does not satisfy the traceability requirement.
What's different between an EU DoC and a UK DoC?+
The structures are similar, but a UK Declaration of Conformity can currently reference either UK legislation or the corresponding EU legislation and standards, reflecting the UK's continued recognition of CE marking for most goods in Great Britain. Read our UKCA vs CE marking guide for the current position, since it has changed more than once since Brexit.
Does the declaration need a notified body number?+
Only if a notified (EU) or approved (UK) body was actually involved in your conformity assessment. Most consumer electronics use manufacturer self-assessment, so most declarations have no notified body section at all. Where one was involved, its name, identification number and the certificate reference need to appear.
Is this generator enough on its own, or do I still need testing?+
The generator only formats the document from what you tell it: it does not test your product or verify your claims. The declaration is only true if the testing, technical file and standards compliance behind it are real. Use it once you already know which legislation and standards apply and have the evidence to back the statement.
