WEEE

WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) rules make producers responsible for the end-of-life collection, treatment and recycling of the electronics they place on the market, funded through producer registration and take-back schemes, and signalled to consumers by the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

Why it matters

WEEE registration and funding obligations exist separately from CE marking and are often missed by smaller or first-time sellers, but they are usually mandatory before you can legally place electrical or electronic equipment on the EU or UK market at all.
