TCB (Telecommunication Certification Body)

A Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB) is a private organisation, recognised by the FCC, that reviews test data and issues the equipment authorisation grant for intentional radio transmitters. The FCC itself does not test or approve products directly.

Why it matters

You apply to a TCB, not to the FCC, for certification, and TCB turnaround time and requirements can vary, so choosing a TCB and lab early in a hardware launch avoids last-minute certification delays before a ship date.
