Recall
A recall is the coordinated process of removing an unsafe or non-compliant product from consumers' hands, typically alongside a public notice, repair, replacement or refund offer. Regulations increasingly specify how recalls must be run, not just when one is needed.
Why it matters
The EU's GPSR, for example, expects at least two remedies, repair, replacement or refund, to be offered free of charge and promptly, so businesses that only plan for stopping sales rather than a structured consumer-facing recall process can find themselves non-compliant even while trying to do the right thing.
