GPSR

GPSR is the EU's General Product Safety Regulation, the safety-net law that applies to essentially all consumer products sold in the EU, including online, whether or not they also carry CE marking under a specific directive. The UK has its own, older General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Why it matters

Since December 2024 the EU GPSR requires a responsible economic operator established in the EU for every consumer product, which is often the first real blocker for a non-EU business trying to sell into the EU, including through marketplaces.
