FCC ID

An FCC ID is the unique identifier the FCC assigns when a product containing an intentional radio transmitter, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular, is certified under the US equipment authorisation rules. It combines a grantee code with a product code chosen by the manufacturer.

Why it matters

A product may not display an FCC ID unless it has actually been through certification and received a grant, and US customs and retailers commonly check for one before allowing an intentional radio product to be sold or imported.
